As an NDIS support coordinator, one of the most common allied health referrals you will make is for physiotherapy. Finding a provider who can actually get to your participant — on time, consistently, and without placing the burden of travel on them — is not always straightforward. This guide explains how Bayside Mobile Physio supports NDIS participants across Greater Sydney and what you need to know before making a referral.
How Physiotherapy Is Funded Under the NDIS
Physiotherapy for NDIS participants is funded under the Improved Daily Living (IDL) support category, also known as Support Category 15. This category covers assessment, therapy, and training delivered by a qualified allied health professional to help participants improve their functional capacity and independence.
Physiotherapy sessions with Bayside Mobile Physio can be claimed under the following support item numbers:
15_056_0128_1_3 — Assessment Recommendation Therapy and/or Training (Physiotherapy), which covers initial assessments and goal-directed treatment sessions.
15_057_0128_1_3 — Assessment Recommendation Therapy and/or Training (Physiotherapy) — non-face-to-face, which covers report writing, care team communication, and plan review correspondence.
What NDIS Physiotherapy Goals We Can Support
Physiotherapy through Bayside Mobile Physio is goal-directed and aligned to your participant’s NDIS plan. Common goals we support include:
Improving mobility and balance — for participants at risk of falls or who have experienced a decline in their ability to move safely around the home.
Increasing strength and functional capacity — tailored exercise programs to improve a participant’s ability to complete daily activities independently or with less support.
Neurological rehabilitation — for participants living with stroke, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, acquired brain injury, or cerebral palsy.
Pain management — assessment and treatment of musculoskeletal pain conditions including back pain, neck pain, shoulder pain, and arthritis that are limiting the participant’s daily function.
Post-surgical rehabilitation — recovery support following hip or knee replacement, spinal surgery, or other orthopaedic procedures.
Assistive technology recommendations — our physiotherapists can provide clinical recommendations to support AT applications where mobility aids, seating, or positioning equipment is required.
Functional capacity assessments — where required to support plan reviews or NDIS applications, our physiotherapists can provide detailed functional assessments and written reports.
Why Mobile Physiotherapy Works for NDIS Participants
Many NDIS participants face significant barriers to accessing clinic-based physiotherapy. Transport to and from appointments can be costly, exhausting, and logistically complex — particularly for participants with complex physical needs, limited support workers, or high pain levels.
Mobile physiotherapy removes those barriers entirely. Our physiotherapists come to your participant’s home, supported accommodation, or group home and deliver treatment in a familiar, comfortable environment. This often results in better engagement, more consistent attendance, and treatment that is directly relevant to the participant’s actual living situation.
For participants in supported independent living or specialist disability accommodation, we coordinate directly with support workers and house managers to ensure our visits fit the participant’s routine.
What Happens After You Make a Referral
Once you refer a participant to Bayside Mobile Physio, here is what you can expect:
We will contact you or the participant within one business day to confirm receipt of the referral and discuss scheduling.
A physiotherapist will be allocated based on the participant’s location and clinical needs.
The initial assessment is conducted in the participant’s home. The physiotherapist will complete a full clinical assessment, establish goals in line with the NDIS plan, and develop a treatment plan.
Following the assessment, we can provide a written summary for your records or the participant’s support file on request.
Ongoing sessions are scheduled at a frequency agreed between the physiotherapist, participant, and support coordinator. We communicate any significant changes or concerns to you promptly.
Pricing and NDIS Claim Rates
Bayside Mobile Physio charges up to the current NDIS price guide rate for physiotherapy. Our pricing is all-inclusive — there are no separate travel fees charged to the participant’s plan for home visits within our standard service areas.
For current NDIS physiotherapy price limits, refer to the NDIS Support Catalogue on the NDIS website. We are happy to provide a service agreement and quote prior to commencing supports if required for your participant’s plan.

How to Make an NDIS Physiotherapy Referral
Referring a participant is straightforward. You can submit a referral via our online referral form, call us on 0468 079 075, or email [email protected].
When making a referral it helps to include the participant’s NDIS number, plan management type (self-managed or plan-managed), current goals relevant to physiotherapy, and any relevant clinical history. This allows us to allocate the most appropriate physiotherapist and prepare for the initial assessment.
Frequently Asked Questions from Support Coordinators
Can you provide reports for plan reviews?
Yes. Our physiotherapists can provide written progress reports and functional assessments to support plan reviews. Please let us know at the time of referral if a report is likely to be required so we can factor this into scheduling and planning.
What if the participant’s condition changes during treatment?
Our physiotherapists monitor participant progress throughout treatment and will communicate any significant changes to you. If a participant’s needs change substantially we will discuss an updated treatment plan with you and the participant.
Can you work alongside other allied health providers in the participant’s plan?
Yes. We are experienced in working as part of a multidisciplinary team and are happy to liaise with occupational therapists, speech pathologists, exercise physiologists, and other providers involved in the participant’s care.
Do you charge for cancellations?
Our cancellation policy is in line with NDIS guidelines. Where a participant cancels with less than the required notice period, a cancellation fee may apply in accordance with the NDIS price guide. We will outline this clearly in the service agreement before supports commence.
