How Much Do NDIS Physiotherapy Services Cost?
If you or a family member has an NDIS plan and needs physiotherapy, one of the first questions is usually about cost. The good news is that NDIS physiotherapy fees are regulated by the NDIA, which means there is a clear price limit that registered providers must follow. This guide explains what those fees are, what they cover, and how in-home physiotherapy works under the NDIS.
What Is the NDIS Price Limit for Physiotherapy?
The current NDIS price limit for physiotherapy is $183.99 per hour. This applies nationally across all states and territories, including New South Wales. Planpartners
This is the maximum a registered NDIS provider can charge. Providers can charge less, and participants and providers are free to negotiate lower rates where appropriate.
Billing is now available in 10-minute increments, which gives more flexibility for shorter appointments rather than always billing a full hour. Planpartners
What Does the NDIS Physiotherapy Fee Cover?
The hourly rate covers direct, face-to-face physiotherapy treatment. This includes:
Initial assessments and functional evaluations, hands-on treatment and therapeutic exercise, falls prevention programs, balance and strength rehabilitation, post-hospital recovery support, pain management, and mobility and reconditioning programs.
Non-face-to-face time such as report writing, care plan preparation, and communication with your support coordinator may also be claimable depending on your plan and provider agreement.
Can NDIS Cover In-Home Physiotherapy?
Yes. NDIS physiotherapy can be delivered in your home, which is particularly beneficial for participants with limited mobility, those recovering from a hospital stay, or anyone who finds it difficult to travel to a clinic.
At Bayside Mobile Physio, we provide in-home NDIS physiotherapy across Greater Sydney, including the Inner West, Western Sydney, South West Sydney, Macarthur, and Greater Penrith regions. We come to you, which means no travel stress and treatment in a familiar, comfortable environment.
Does NDIS Cover Travel Costs for a Mobile Physiotherapist?
Yes, in most cases. NDIS providers can claim travel time to visit a participant at home, however there are limits. Travel claims for therapy providers are now capped at 50% of the relevant hourly rate. For example, if a physiotherapist travels 30 minutes to see you, the maximum claimable travel time is 15 minutes at the standard rate. The SALT Foundation
Your provider should be transparent about how travel is calculated and itemised in their service agreement.
Which Part of an NDIS Plan Covers Physiotherapy?
Physiotherapy sits under the Capacity Building budget, specifically the Improved Daily Living category. This is separate from your Core Supports budget.
To access physiotherapy through your NDIS plan you will need Improved Daily Living funding included in your plan. If you are unsure whether your plan includes this, check with your support coordinator or plan manager.
Do I Need a Referral for NDIS Physiotherapy?
No referral is required to access NDIS physiotherapy. However your support coordinator or plan manager may be involved in finding a suitable provider and confirming funding is available before services begin.
If you are self-managed or plan-managed, you can contact a physiotherapy provider directly to arrange an initial appointment.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I choose my own NDIS physiotherapy provider?
Yes. NDIS participants have the right to choose their own registered providers. You are not required to use a provider recommended by your support coordinator, though they can help with the process.
Does NDIS physiotherapy have a session limit?
There is no set session limit written into NDIS rules, however your available funding determines how many sessions are practically possible. Your physiotherapist will recommend a treatment plan based on your goals and your plan manager or support coordinator can advise on remaining funding.
Can a support coordinator refer a client for NDIS physiotherapy?
Yes, and this is one of the most common pathways. Support coordinators regularly refer clients to allied health providers including physiotherapists. At Bayside Mobile Physio we make the referral process straightforward with minimal admin for coordinators.
Please note: NDIS pricing is reviewed annually by the NDIA. The fees referenced in this post reflect the 2025–26 Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits effective November 2025. Always confirm current rates with your provider or via the NDIS website.
