Mobile physiotherapist visiting an NDIS participant at home in Sydney with no waitlist

A long waitlist is one of the most common frustrations NDIS participants run into when looking for a physiotherapist, especially for in-home visits. This guide explains why waitlists happen in the first place, what “no waitlist” actually means in practice, and how to find a mobile NDIS physio in Sydney with genuine immediate capacity, fast referral turnaround, rather than an advertised claim that doesn’t hold up once you call.

Why do NDIS physio waitlists happen?

Most waitlists come down to geography, not lack of therapists overall. A single clinic-based provider, or a mobile provider with only one or two therapists, can only cover so much ground in a day once travel time between home visits is factored in. If your suburb happens to sit outside their usual run, you’re placed on a list until a therapist has a free slot nearby, which can take weeks.

What “no waitlist” should actually mean

Worth checking before you commit to any provider advertising “no waitlist” or “immediate capacity”:

  • Is that true everywhere they claim to cover, or only in the suburbs closest to their office?
  • Does a new referral get an actual appointment time, or just a call back to “see what we can do”?
  • How quickly is a new referral even acknowledged? A same-day response is a reasonable bar; a provider who takes days just to reply to an enquiry is unlikely to move faster once you’re on their books.
  • Is capacity genuinely available, or is a provider taking on more referrals than they can service well, which shows up later as rescheduling and inconsistent therapists?

A provider that can name its coverage suburbs specifically, rather than a vague “Greater Sydney,” is usually a more reliable signal than the “no waitlist” claim on its own.
