Private physiotherapy visits for residents in Sydney nursing homes and aged care facilities. We coordinate directly with your facility to support mobility, falls prevention, pain management, and reablement goals, right …
Our physiotherapists can visit a resident in a nursing home or residential aged care facility. Bayside Mobile Physio provides private physiotherapy visits to residents across Sydney aged care facilities, working alongside each facility’s nursing and care team to support mobility, strength, pain management, and reablement goals.
Before an initial visit, we always coordinate with the facility first. This means notifying the nursing home’s management or care team so they’re aware an external provider is coming in, and so your family member’s file and care plan can be updated to reflect the visit. Most facilities are used to working alongside external allied health providers and simply need to be looped in ahead of time.
To arrange a visit, we’ll ask for the resident’s full name, the facility name, and their room number, along with whether the facility has already been informed or whether we should reach out to them directly first.
Reablement after illness or decline. When someone’s mobility has dropped off quickly, whether from an illness, a hospital stay, or a period of reduced activity, our focus is on helping them regain as much function as safely possible, not just maintaining where they’re at.
Falls prevention and balance. Balance and strength programs designed to reduce fall risk and build confidence with everyday movement.
Maintaining transfer ability. Working on the specific strength and movement patterns involved in transfers, which can make a significant difference to a resident’s independence and comfort day to day.
Pain management. Treating joint stiffness, arthritis, and general muscle soreness that can affect mobility and quality of life.
Mobility aid assessment. Assessing and recommending walkers, canes, or wheelchairs suited to a resident’s current needs.
Post-surgery and post-hospital recovery. Supporting rehabilitation after operations like hip or knee replacements, or after a hospital admission.
We take a reablement-focused approach with residents living with dementia, working toward genuine functional goals wherever it’s safe and appropriate to do so, rather than defaulting to maintenance alone. Our physiotherapists understand how much everyday abilities can matter, both for a resident’s own independence and comfort, and for the time families are able to spend together.
Physiotherapy visits for residents in permanent residential aged care are generally arranged and paid for privately, since Home Care Package and Support at Home funding is designed for people living at home rather than in residential care. Some clients may be eligible for a partial Medicare rebate through a GP-issued Chronic Disease Management plan, and some private health funds offer physiotherapy rebates, so it’s worth checking your policy.
Contact us with your family member’s name, the facility name, and their room number.
We’ll confirm what the facility needs from us before an initial visit, and if the facility hasn’t yet been informed, we’re happy to coordinate that directly with their care team.
Once everything’s confirmed, we’ll arrange an initial assessment visit and go from there.
We provide residential aged care physiotherapy visits across Greater Sydney. See our Locations page for the specific areas we cover.
Do I need to tell the nursing home before arranging a visit?
Yes. We always notify the facility’s management or care team ahead of an initial visit, and we’re happy to coordinate this directly with them if it’s easier for the family.
Is this covered by Support at Home?
Support at Home funding generally doesn’t extend to residents in permanent residential aged care, since it’s designed for people living at home. Most residential aged care physiotherapy is arranged privately.
Can a family member arrange this on behalf of a resident?
Yes, family members regularly arrange and coordinate private physiotherapy for a parent or relative in aged care.
Do you work with residents who have dementia?
Yes. We take a reablement-focused approach and believe in giving people the opportunity to regain function where it’s safe and appropriate to do so.
How do I get started?
Contact us with your family member’s details and the facility name, and we’ll take it from there. See our page For Referrers if you’re a care manager or health professional making a referral.
